This Cookie Policy explains how SkipIn uses cookies and similar technologies on its website and mobile application. Strictly necessary cookies are used to provide the service. All other cookies are set only after you give consent through the SkipIn cookie banner, and you may withdraw your consent at any time.
1. Introduction
1.1 This Cookie Policy is issued by SkipIn Ltd, a company incorporated in England and Wales under company number 17226313 with its registered office at Office 19040, 182-184 High Street North, East Ham, London, United Kingdom, E6 2JA (“SkipIn”, “we”, “us” or “our”).
1.2 This Policy describes how we use cookies and similar technologies on the SkipIn website and mobile application (together, the “Platform”), the categories of cookies in use, the purposes for which they are used, the lawful basis on which we rely, and the choices available to you.
1.3 This Policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy (which explains how we process personal data) and our Terms of Service. Where there is any inconsistency, the Privacy Policy prevails on matters of personal-data processing.
1.4 If you have any questions about this Policy or your cookie preferences, please contact us at alex@skipin.uk.
2. What Are Cookies and Similar Technologies?
2.1 A “cookie” is a small text file placed on your device (computer, tablet or mobile telephone) when you visit a website. Cookies allow the website to recognise your device, remember information about your visit, and operate certain functions.
2.2 In this Policy, references to “cookies” include not only browser cookies but also other tracking and identification technologies that perform a similar function, including:
pixel tags and web beacons (small image files used to track interactions);
local and session storage (data stored within your browser);
software development kits (SDKs) embedded in our mobile application;
device and advertising identifiers used by mobile operating systems; and
similar technologies that store or access information on your device.
2.3 Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003 (“PECR”), the rules applicable to cookies apply equally to all such technologies.
First-party and third-party cookies
“First-party” cookies are set by SkipIn directly. “Third-party” cookies are set by an organisation other than SkipIn (such as our payment processor or analytics provider) when you use the Platform. Third parties acting on our behalf are subject to written processing terms with us; third parties acting in their own right are subject to their own privacy and cookie notices.
Session and persistent cookies
“Session” cookies are temporary and are deleted when you close your browser or end your session. “Persistent” cookies remain on your device until they expire or you delete them.
3. Types of Cookies We Use
3.1 We use two categories of cookies and similar technologies. Only the first may be set without your consent.
3.2 Strictly Necessary Cookies
These cookies are essential to the operation of the Platform. They enable core functions such as authenticating logged-in Users, maintaining session state, keeping accounts secure, and remembering your cookie preferences. The Platform cannot function properly without these cookies.
Lawful basis: these cookies fall within the exemption in PECR Regulation 6(4) (cookies strictly necessary for the provision of an information-society service explicitly requested by the User) and are therefore not subject to the consent requirement.
3.3 Error Diagnostics
If you agree, we use session replay to record what happened on screen in the moments before an error, so that we can understand and fix the fault. All text is masked and all images and media are blocked before any recording leaves your device, and a recording is sent only if an error occurs. This technology is used only with your consent, and stops as soon as you withdraw it.
3.4 We do not use functionality, analytics, advertising or marketing cookies. If we ever introduce any, we will update this Policy and ask for your consent before any are set.
4. Specific Cookies Used
4.1 This clause lists every cookie and similar technology used on the Platform, on the website and in the SkipIn app, at the date of this Policy. The inventory is reviewed as our service providers change.
Strictly Necessary Cookies and Similar Technologies (no consent required under PECR Regulation 6(4))
sb-mxuphtkqkzwqhuuooumq-auth-token - Keeps you signed in between visits. Set only once you sign in, and may be split into numbered parts (for example ".0" and ".1") where the session data is large. Provider: first party (SkipIn, via our authentication provider Supabase). Type: browser cookie. Duration: persistent, up to 400 days or until you sign out.
sb-mxuphtkqkzwqhuuooumq-auth-token-code-verifier - Protects your sign-in against interception while you complete it. Provider: first party (SkipIn, via Supabase). Type: browser cookie. Duration: normally removed as soon as sign-in completes.
skipin_cookie_consent - Records your cookie preferences so the cookie banner is not shown again on each visit. Provider: first party (SkipIn). Type: browser cookie and local storage. Duration: persistent, 12 months.
Error Diagnostics (set only with your consent)
sentryReplaySession - Links together the steps leading up to an error so that we can diagnose and fix faults in the Platform. Set only if you have agreed to error diagnostics, and removed as soon as you withdraw that agreement. Provider: first party (SkipIn, via our error-monitoring provider Sentry). Type: session storage. Duration: deleted when you close the browser tab.
4.2 Payments are taken on a secure checkout page hosted by Stripe, not on the Platform itself. Stripe sets its own cookies on that page for fraud prevention and security. Those cookies are governed by Stripe’s Cookie Policy at https://stripe.com/gb/legal/cookies-policy.
4.3 In addition to the cookies set out above, our infrastructure providers (such as our hosting and content-delivery providers) may set short-lived technical cookies that are required for the secure delivery of the Platform. Where any such cookie performs a function beyond strict technical necessity, it will be added to this clause and treated as subject to consent.
5. How We Use Cookies
5.1 We use cookies and similar technologies for the following purposes:
Site and application functionality. To authenticate Users, maintain session state, deliver Fast-Track Tickets, and remember your cookie preferences.
Security. To keep accounts secure and to protect the sign-in process against interception. Stripe separately uses its own cookies on its checkout page to detect and prevent fraud, as described in clause 4.2.
Error diagnostics. Where you have given consent, to understand and fix errors in the Platform.
5.2 We do not use cookies for automated decision-making that produces legal effects concerning you or that similarly significantly affects you within the meaning of Article 22 of the UK GDPR.
6. Consent Mechanism
6.1 When you first visit the Platform, we will display a cookie banner that allows you to make a clear and informed choice about the use of non-essential cookies. The banner enables you to:
accept all cookies;
reject all non-essential cookies; or
manage your preference for error diagnostics.
6.2 Rejecting non-essential cookies is presented with the same prominence and accessibility as accepting them. No non-essential cookies are pre-selected, and no consent boxes are pre-ticked.
6.3 Strictly Necessary Cookies are set automatically because they are required for the Platform to function. They are excluded from the consent banner in accordance with PECR Regulation 6(4).
6.4 Non-essential cookies are not set on your device until you have actively consented to that category through the banner or the cookie preference centre. Continued use of the Platform alone does not constitute consent.
6.5 You may withdraw your consent at any time, and withdrawal is as easy as the original act of giving consent. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of any cookie activity carried out before withdrawal.
6.6 Your choice is recorded on your device, together with the date it was made and the version of our consent categories, so that we can respect it on later visits and ask you again if those categories change.
7. Managing Your Cookie Preferences
7.1 You can change your cookie preferences at any time by:
opening the cookie preferences panel from the SkipIn cookie banner, or via the "Cookie preferences" option in your account settings;
clearing existing cookies and re-launching the cookie banner from a fresh session; or
managing cookies through your browser or operating-system settings.
Browser settings
Most modern browsers allow you to view, manage, block and delete cookies. The location of these controls varies by browser; the following resources are commonly used:
Google Chrome: support.google.com/chrome
Apple Safari: support.apple.com/safari
Mozilla Firefox: support.mozilla.org
Microsoft Edge: support.microsoft.com
Mobile device settings
On iOS and Android devices, you can reset your advertising identifier and limit ad tracking through your device privacy settings. You may also be able to revoke any tracking permissions previously granted to the SkipIn mobile application.
7.2 Please note that disabling Strictly Necessary Cookies through your browser may impair or prevent the functioning of the Platform, including your ability to log in, complete a purchase, or receive your Fast-Track Ticket.
8. Third-Party Cookies
8.1 Some cookies connected with your use of the Platform are placed by third parties. The principal third parties involved are:
Stripe Payments Europe Limited. Sets its own cookies on the Stripe-hosted checkout page, as described in clause 4.2, for the purposes of payment processing, fraud prevention and risk assessment. Stripe acts as an independent data controller in respect of certain processing. See https://stripe.com/gb/privacy.
Third-party analytics providers. No third-party analytics provider is used at present. Should we engage one in future, we will update this Policy and link their privacy notice from this section before any analytics cookies are deployed.
Consent management platforms. No third-party consent management platform is used at present; the SkipIn cookie banner and consent records are operated directly by us. Should we engage a third-party provider in future, we will update this section.
8.2 Third-party cookie providers may process information about you in accordance with their own privacy and cookie notices. We have no control over those notices and recommend that you review them.
8.3 Where a third party acts as our data processor, we have entered into written processing terms requiring that provider to process personal data only on our documented instructions and to implement appropriate security measures.
9. Data Protection
9.1 Information stored by, or read from, cookies may constitute personal data under the UK GDPR. The processing of any such personal data is described in our Privacy Policy.
9.2 The lawful bases on which we rely for cookie-related processing are:
for Strictly Necessary Cookies: our legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) of the UK GDPR) in operating, securing and providing the Platform, and the User’s implicit request for the service in respect of which the cookies are essential;
for Error Diagnostics: your consent (Article 6(1)(a) of the UK GDPR), given through the SkipIn cookie banner.
9.3 You have rights in respect of your personal data, including the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, as set out in our Privacy Policy. You may exercise these rights by contacting alex@skipin.uk.
9.4 You have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at any time. Details are available at ico.org.uk.
10. Changes to this Policy
10.1 We may update this Policy from time to time, including to reflect changes in the cookies we use, in our service providers, or in applicable law and regulatory guidance.
10.2 The date of the most recent version is shown at the top of this Policy. Where changes are material, we will notify you in advance, including by re-presenting the cookie banner so that you can review your preferences.
10.3 Where the law requires renewed consent following a material change to the cookies we use, no new non-essential cookies will be set on your device until you have given that consent.
